I thought I’d get this out of the way while we still had Kinja. I have been wanting to do some suspension upgrades to my Accord for a while and I wanted some advice.

I could probably do lowering springs + struts, but I was recommended to just get coilovers to be once and done with. I was looking to lower it one or two inches and maybe have a slightly stiffer ride. It’s a nearly 200k mile car and it’s possible the shocks are still the original ones. I would imagine doing either coils or new shocks that would be handled.

I was recommended !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , Tein is out of stock right now but they also have coilovers for my Accord. If those coilovers aren’t good, I could get Tein or Eibach springs and some koni struts if that’s better.

I have a 3.2 TL Type-S rear sway, a KTuned rear camber kit, and I’m gonna get a front sway. The suspension for the seventh gen Accord is also the same as thre CL9 Accord/ TSX so if anyone has recommendations for a spring set or something for a TSX of that gen it should fit too.

If it’s a daily driver I would get lowering springs. Good coilovers will cost more than the car is worth and cheap ones will ride poorly. Coilovers are harsh, extremely stiff and pretty tiring.

I have had Eibachs on two cars and Koni’s on two cars and would recommend both over coilovers.

regardless of cost, your shocks are probably due for replacement. you would probably notice a big improvement even with stock shocks and lowering springs. have you inspected your bushings and other wear components? I would prioritize those to improve feel and responsiveness.

adding a front sway will introduce understeer unless it’s noticeably less stiff than the rear sway you already have.

If you drive it hard and want the car to handle better, any coilover under a grand is going to be crap. If you just want stance, Tien or similar are fine. Honestly, Racelands are fine and have good warranty. Don’t slam it and it’ll ride fine. Just fine.

If you want budget handing, get some adjustable Koni struts and lowering springs. If you want adjustable ride height/ preload, get an adjustable lower perch kit from Ground Control or similar.

Engineers spend a lot of time fine tuning everything from the rubber in the top hats, to the valving in the dampers to match the specific car. No matter which coil overs you get, even most expensive, it will never match the ride quality of the originals. I say buy some oem shocks and use a spring compressor to swap springs.

While your in there have a good look at ball joints as Hondas love to eat front ball joints.

I can add b all joints to the list, I know. I wouldn’t mind a stuffer ride, but again that’s probably shocks

That’s exactly what I thought, most people were going for stance so a budget coilover is not bad for that.

Koni struts + springs sounds like the way to go

I would imagine, I got new bushings for the sway bar at least. I can take a look while I’m under it.

I’m planning to put a set of Koni Yellows and GC adjustable lower perch (they call it a “coilover conversion kit”) with an Eibach Pro-Kit setup on my Golf. I think all in, it’s about a grand. Not bad for what you get.

Yeah I think I’m just gonna do Konis and springs

The GC setup is $500. A lot, if you aren’t going to use it. Eibach/Koni is a great combination.
